Bath re-enamelling in Wern y Wylan

When we’d advise against a repair

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Wern y Wylan

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Wern y Wylan

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We work on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What we do, step by step

We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes most of the day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Wern y Wylan: your questions answered

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK, and that includes Wern y Wylan. Prices don’t change with location.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • No need to remove anything
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
