Bath re-enamelling in Whitley

Landlords, agents and businesses in Whitley

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

About our bath re-enamelling in Whitley

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes most of the day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colour-matched on site
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Never use suction bath mats

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Common questions in Whitley

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Are there extra charges for Whitley?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
