How we handle bath re-enamelling in Willen

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. If you’re dealing with a bath in a colour that no longer suits and thin, worn enamel in places, we can help.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

When we’d advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

What we are called out for in Willen

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

The things customers normally mention when they call are:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing

Choosing a repair company

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Willen. What changes the price is:

  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Questions from Willen

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your MK15 postcode.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse off any bath products.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
