Bath repair in Adlington

Bath repair at your home in Adlington

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site. We are often asked to fix holes from dropped items and chips caused by builders, across cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Honest limits

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Adlington

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Adlington questions

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Do you cover the entire of Cheshire East?

The whole UK, including all of Cheshire East. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Do you come to Adlington?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Adlington and the rest of Cheshire East. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Common reasons people in Adlington contact us include:

10 questions to ask before you book

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What happens on the day

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
