Bath repair at your home in Aith
Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can usually bathe again the day after. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Common call-outs are for chips caused by builders and a hole punched through by something heavy, on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.
All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in the Shetland Islands.

Aith: your questions answered
Which areas do you work in?
Across the UK, and that includes Aith. Prices do not change with location.
How soon can you come?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Is there any odour?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.
Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?
Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.
Will the repair last?
Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.
Do you charge for travel?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
How long before I can use the bath?
Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

How to look after the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
Honest limits
In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
What we work on
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
Landlord and trade work in Aith
Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
Repair or replace in Aith?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Why us?
- Straight answers about what a repair can do
- Colour-matched on site
- Usually one visit, start to finish
- Same prices wherever you are

DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- The material
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The size and number of damaged areas
We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Aith. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
How to get a fixed quote
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Any details about the material
- A picture taken from further back
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
For a price in Aith, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
How the visit works
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most jobs. The room is left tidy.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.
How to prepare
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
Ask for a price
You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
