Bath repair near Alfold Bars

Bath repair at your home in Alfold Bars

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We’re frequently asked to fix rust by the waste and overflow and a chip where the taps sit, across whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Alfold Bars. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size

If you are in Alfold Bars and want a price, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Common problems we fix in Alfold Bars

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Common reasons people in Alfold Bars contact us are:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Snagging damage from a refit

Your questions about bath repair in Alfold Bars

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Typically. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, tidy-up included.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Ask for a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
