Bath repair in Ancrum, done in place
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can typically use the bath the following day. Typical jobs include impact holes in acrylic and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How it works
Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, and we leave the room as we found it.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
Ask for a price
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Ancrum. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- The material and finish
- Whether we combine several jobs
- How hard the colour is to match
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.
How to get a fixed price
Two or three clear photos are normally enough. It helps if you send:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Where you are, by postcode
- The material, if you know it
No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:
- Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
Materials we repair
- Pressed steel enamel
- Acrylic
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
How to care for the repair
It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
