Need bath repair in Kelso?

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Kelso. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the whole bath

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Bath repair at your home in Kelso

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Typical jobs include a cracked acrylic bath and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Do you need bath repair in Kelso?

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • A cracked acrylic bath

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What preparation is included

10 questions to ask before you book

Repair or replace: which is better?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Kelso

Questions from Kelso

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

If you manage property in Kelso, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.
