Bath repair for Apse Heath homes

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Apse Heath. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How much damage there is
  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Apse Heath. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Apse Heath: your questions answered

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What information do you need?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Common problems we fix in Apse Heath

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

What to look for in a quote

  • What preparation is included
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How to look after the finish

What we can’t put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

How it works

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Apse Heath customers choose us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
