Bath repair in Ashwell without replacing anything
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We’re often asked to fix snagging damage from a refit and rust spots around the plughole, in cast iron enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Keeping it looking good
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Ashwell. What changes the price is:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The colour and finish to match
- The material
- What kind of damage it is
Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
Send pictures for a quote
Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- A photo taken from further back
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
Why repair rather than replace?
People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
What you get with us

- Everything repaired in place

How the visit works
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the following day.
Before we arrive
- Make sure the area is dry
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
How to get a price
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Ashwell: your questions answered
What happens if you find more damage?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Rutland.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.
When a repair is not the answer
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Roll-top & freestanding

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ashwell
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
For anyone letting property in or around Ashwell, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
