Bath repair in Barnyards

About our bath repair in Barnyards

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the day after. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Common call-outs are for an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, in cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Barnyards and across Fife.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear the area around the damage

Repair or replace: which is better?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Barnyards. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why book with us

  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Common questions in Barnyards

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Do you come to Barnyards?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Barnyards. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
