Repairing versus replacing in Barnyards
Replacing a coloured suite means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Why Barnyards customers choose us
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- Honest advice, even when it means no job

How the visit works
We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a day or two, depending on how many items, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We protect the room and ventilate it.
- Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
- Each item is left to cure, typically ready the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

What coloured bath resurfacing costs
Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- The colour and finish to match
- The material
- The type of damage
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
How to get a fixed quote
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Something in shot to show the size
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
If you’re in Barnyards and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
Barnyards questions
What about the toilet?
Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we will tell you what will last.
Will you leave a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Will the price change on the day?
We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Is there a call-out fee?
There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.
Can pets and children be at home?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.
Signs you need coloured bath resurfacing in Barnyards
Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s normally the colour that dates them, not the condition.
People normally call us when they notice one of these:
- A suite that does not match a new bathroom
- Faded or patchy colour
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
What to look for in a quote
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How long it needs to cure
- If travel is included in the price

DIY kit or professional repair?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
What we cannot put right
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.
