FAQs for Beer
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
Do you work in Beer?
Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Beer from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
Will the repair show?
The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
How long does the repair take to cure?
Normally the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Frequently, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.
Bath repair in Beer, done in place
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, usually in a single visit. Common call-outs are for deep scratches in acrylic and impact holes in acrylic, across pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Looking after it afterwards
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.
Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Work for landlords and builders
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.
We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.
Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Repairing versus replacing in Beer
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book.

Honest limits
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

The things customers generally mention when they call include:
- Chips caused by builders
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Chips on the rim or sides
- Chips under the taps

The process
There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, tidy-up included.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking or access
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
