Bath repair in Besthorpe

What we can’t put right

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

About our bath repair in Besthorpe

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Whether it’s a kit repair that didn’t last and holes from dropped items, we can help, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding alike.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs

If you are in Besthorpe and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

When to call us in Besthorpe

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, frequently before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Deep scratches in acrylic

What to look for in a quote

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How long it needs to cure

Choosing a repair company

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Repairing versus replacing in Besthorpe

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a morning or an afternoon, tidy-up included.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
