What we are called out for in Bickershaw

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Snagging damage from a refit

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • No need to remove anything
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Bickershaw. The price reflects:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Bickershaw. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Bickershaw, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Landlord and trade work in Bickershaw

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
