Trusted bath repair in Birch

Should you replace it?

Replacing a fitted bath normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Why us?

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

How we handle bath repair in Birch

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We’re frequently asked to fix snagging damage from a refit and chips on the rim or sides, on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we can’t put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

What affects the price in Birch

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Birch. What changes the price is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • The type of damage

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

Common problems we fix in Birch

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, often before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
