Bath repair for Blaguegate homes

Do you need bath repair in Blaguegate?

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Aftercare advice
  • If travel is included in the price

Bath repair in Blaguegate without replacing anything

A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. Common call-outs are for a chip where the taps sit and deep scratches in acrylic, on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

When we’d advise against a repair

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Open a window if you can

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Repairing versus replacing in Blaguegate

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
