How we handle bath repair in Borehamwood

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. You can normally use the bath the day after. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and people most often call us about rust by the waste and overflow and a cracked acrylic bath.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Everything repaired in place
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Borehamwood questions

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do you cover Borehamwood?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Borehamwood and the rest of Hertfordshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you cover the entire of Hertfordshire?

Across the UK, and that includes Borehamwood. Prices don’t change with location.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Generally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What a repair cannot fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we work on in Borehamwood

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What affects the price in Borehamwood

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Borehamwood. The price comes down to:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any details about the material
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Have new chips seen to early

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

Do you need bath repair in Borehamwood?

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

What to look for in a quote

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What prep work is covered
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
