Bath repair for Bury homes

Bath repair in Bury without replacing anything

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. We work on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and people most often call us about deep scratches in acrylic and rust by the waste and overflow.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Questions from Bury

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

How long before I can use the bath?

Typically the next day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is a bath repair durable?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

A cracked acrylic bath generally wasn’t supported properly. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move until the acrylic gives way.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Chips on the rim or sides

What to look for in a quote

  • When it can be used again
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlord and trade work in Bury

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For anyone letting property in or around Bury, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
