Bath repair at your home in Butterwick

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. Common call-outs are for snagging damage from a refit and cracks in an acrylic bath, on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Why repair rather than replace?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is

Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Natural light rather than flash
