Trusted bath repair in Chipstead

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Bath repair in Chipstead, done in place

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles aren’t touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We are often asked to fix a chip where the taps sit and scuffs and scratches in the surface, in pressed steel enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Chipstead. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many areas need work

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes a few hours, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
