Bath repair in Clotherholme without replacing anything

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. Whether it’s rust spots around the plughole and holes from dropped items, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Clotherholme. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Common problems we fix in Clotherholme

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • A chipped rim or side

Questions to ask before you book

  • How to care for the finish
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

How to compare quotes

How it works

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Typically it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

FAQs for Clotherholme

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Typically, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
