Should you replace it?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.
Can I fix it myself?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
Common questions in Cooper's Corner
Do the materials smell?
It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first.
How much does bath repair cost in Cooper's Corner?
Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
When can I have a bath again?
Most baths can be used the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
Will I be able to see the repair?
On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
Is a bath repair durable?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

How we price bath repair
Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Cooper's Corner. What changes the price is:
- How much damage there is
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How hard the colour is to match
- The material and finish
There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Quotes from your photos
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- Any details about the material
- Natural light rather than flash
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
Most customers in Cooper's Corner get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
How to look after the repair
To keep it looking its best:
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Rinse it down after each bath
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
How the visit works
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We leave the room clean.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
