How we handle bath repair in Crooke
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, usually in a single visit. We’re frequently asked to fix an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Should you replace it?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow two to three hours for most chips.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Looking after it afterwards
Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.
Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
