About our bath repair in Croy

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles aren’t touched, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. Typical jobs include damage beneath the taps and a hole punched through by something heavy, in cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Questions from Croy

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Do you come to Croy?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Croy and the rest of Highland. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Highland.

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

The process

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Care for the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

What affects the price in Croy

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
