Bath repair near Crystal Palace

Bath repair at your home in Crystal Palace

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Our technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are chips under the taps and a chipped rim or side.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

When to call us in Crystal Palace

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Chips caused by builders
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips under the taps

Questions to ask before booking

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Our hiring checklist

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It usually takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Questions from Crystal Palace

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back. You’re under no obligation.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Normally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, and that includes Crystal Palace. Prices do not change with location.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Crystal Palace, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Why repair rather than replace?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
