How we handle bath repair in Cubitt Town

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are a chip where the taps sit and chips along the edge of the bath.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What we’re called out for in Cubitt Town

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

People typically call us when they notice one of these:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

10 questions to ask before booking

Landlord and trade work in Cubitt Town

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

For anyone letting property in or around Cubitt Town, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll price them together.

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Normally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Cubitt Town: your questions answered

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually within a day, depending on the repair.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
