Trusted bath repair in Diggle

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Bath repair at your home in Diggle

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Typical jobs include a kit repair that didn’t last and impact holes in acrylic, in acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Diggle and across Oldham.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Diggle questions

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Most baths can be used the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your OL3 postcode.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

When to call us in Diggle

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Chips under the taps
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

Questions to ask before you book

  • Who will actually do the work
  • What preparation is included
  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Repairing versus replacing in Diggle

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why Diggle clients choose us

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
