How we handle bath repair in Draethen

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are a kit repair that didn’t last and cracks in an acrylic bath.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Draethen: your questions answered

How do I get a price for bath repair in Draethen?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your NP10 postcode.

Do you cover Draethen?

We do. Technicians travel to Draethen from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

How invisible is a bath repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Often, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Landlord and trade work in Draethen

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Newport and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Do you need bath repair in Draethen?

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips under the taps
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

What affects the price in Draethen

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Any details about the material
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

How it works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.
