Bath repair in East Cliff

Bath repair at your home in East Cliff

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Our repair technicians work on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are chips under the taps and impact holes in acrylic.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Repair or replace in East Cliff?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Work done at your home or business

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for East Cliff. The price reflects:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

FAQs for East Cliff

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Bournemouth.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Is a bath repair durable?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

How much does bath repair cost in East Cliff?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

For anyone letting property in or around East Cliff, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

What we do, step by step

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes two to three hours for most chips, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
