About our bath repair in Eastfields

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in a single visit. We work on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are hairline or through cracks in acrylic and rust by the waste and overflow.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Eastfields

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Greater London and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we work on in Eastfields

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

What you get with us

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Advice

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

Common questions in Eastfields

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Can you quote from photos?

Normally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

When can I have a bath again?

Most baths can be used the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

What we’re called out for in Eastfields

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • A chipped rim or side
  • A chip where the taps sit

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
