Bath repair for Eye homes

Honest limits

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

Bath repair at your home in Eye

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. We are frequently asked to fix chips under the taps and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Any details about the material
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

What we’re called out for in Eye

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Holes from dropped items

Before booking anyone

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why Eye customers choose us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Same prices wherever you are

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Open a window if you can
