Trusted bath repair in Farningham

Bath repair in Farningham, done in place

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most often call us about a chipped rim or side and a chip where the taps sit.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Open a window if you can

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Farningham, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Kent and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

What we cannot put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

When to call us in Farningham

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Repairing versus replacing in Farningham

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
