About our bath repair in Feering

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Typical jobs include damage beneath the taps and a hole punched through by something heavy, across acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Feering: your questions answered

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

In most cases. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Common problems we fix in Feering

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Snagging damage from a refit

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the following day.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Feering. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
