Bath repair in Grampound Road

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Grampound Road. The price comes down to:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

Quotes from your photos

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

How we handle bath repair in Grampound Road

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. There is no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. We are frequently asked to fix a chip where the taps sit and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, on acrylic, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cornwall.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

What we can’t put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No extra charge for your area

Take a look at our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Common problems we fix in Grampound Road

Rust usually starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Deep scratches in acrylic

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What preparation is included
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Choosing a repair company

The process

We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
