FAQs for Great Chart
Is a repair better than a new one?
Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
What do you need from me?
Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
Is it messy?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.
Will the repair show?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
How much does bath repair cost in Great Chart?
Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.
About our bath repair in Great Chart
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for a chipped rim or side and rust spots around the plughole, in cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

Repairing versus replacing in Great Chart
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
What you get with us
- Most jobs done in one visit
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Nothing taken out or refitted

DIY repairs versus a professional job
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
The process
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- Once it has cured, typically by the next day, the bath is ready to use.
How to prepare
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
Getting a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

When a repair isn’t the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- A steel bath rusted through
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

How to care for the repair
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
There is nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.
Work for landlords and builders
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
If you manage property in Great Chart, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.
What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:
- Access to the area
- How hard the colour is to match
- How much damage there is
- What the surface is made of
The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
Getting a price from pictures
Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:
- Details of any past repairs
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Something in shot to show the size
- A photo taken from further back
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
