Grove End questions

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Grove End and the rest of Birmingham. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

About our bath repair in Grove End

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We are frequently asked to fix rust by the waste and overflow and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we are there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Birmingham and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why book with us

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

See our pricing or bath cost comparison.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

To get a price, send a couple of photos using our quote form or ring us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
