Bath repair at your home in Birmingham

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. Common call-outs are for hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

What you’ll pay

Prices start from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Common problems we fix in Birmingham

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A chip where the taps sit

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Birmingham as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is.
