- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Bath repair in Hale Barns, done in place
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. Whether it’s rusty patches near the plughole and a kit repair that didn’t last, we can help, whatever the material.
You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:
- The type of damage
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- The material and finish
- How many areas need work
We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Hale Barns. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from pictures
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- One picture of the whole bath
- Something in shot to show the size
- Any details about the material
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say right away whether it can be repaired.
Hale Barns questions
Is a bath repair durable?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Do the materials smell?
It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
How do I book?
Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Should you replace it?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.
Why us?

Aftercare tips
Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.
What we do, step by step
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Have a window or extractor fan available
