Trusted bath repair in Hamstall Ridware

Bath repair in Hamstall Ridware without replacing anything

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and common reasons people contact us are damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and scratches you can feel with a fingernail.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Generally it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Hamstall Ridware questions

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Do you cover Hamstall Ridware?

We do. We send a technician to Hamstall Ridware for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

What a repair can’t fix

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. You can expect it to take a few hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Do you need bath repair in Hamstall Ridware?

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Damage beneath the taps

Before booking anyone

  • Who will actually do the work
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • What preparation is included
