Bath repair for Hare Green homes

Bath repair in Hare Green without replacing anything

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, generally in a single visit. We are often asked to fix chips along the edge of the bath and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Hare Green as everywhere else we work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we’re called out for in Hare Green

Rust usually starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Chips under the taps

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How your room will be protected
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

How to prepare

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • One visit for most repairs
  • No extra charge for your area

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Hare Green. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Questions from Hare Green

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you quote from pictures?

Typically, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Prices don’t change with location.
