About our bath repair in Harlaxton

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are damage beneath the taps and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Harlaxton and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from photos

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Common problems we fix in Harlaxton

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Common reasons people in Harlaxton contact us are:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

  • What prep work is covered

How to compare quotes

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Common questions in Harlaxton

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Repair or replace in Harlaxton?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Typically it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • No need to remove anything
  • One visit for most repairs

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
