Bath repair near Henlow Camp

Bath repair in Henlow Camp, done in place

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We work on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and people most frequently call us about deep scratches in acrylic and chips along the edge of the bath.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What we can’t put right

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Do you need bath repair in Henlow Camp?

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, frequently before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Snagging damage from a refit

What your quote should include

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Henlow Camp. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Ask for a price

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Henlow Camp questions

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Henlow Camp?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your SG16 postcode.

Do you cover Henlow Camp?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Henlow Camp and the rest of Central Bedfordshire. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

How to look after the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
