What a repair cannot fix

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Bath repair in Meppershall without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Whether it’s rust spots around the plughole and scuffs and scratches in the surface, we can help.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Meppershall. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What kind of damage it is

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

There is nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, a new panel is often needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes two to three hours for most chips for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear the area around the damage

FAQs for Meppershall

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.
