Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Why repair rather than replace?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

What affects the price in Heptonstall

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Heptonstall. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone photos are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole bath

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your HX7 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
