Bath repair in High Easter

How it works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

How to prepare

Advice

Bath repair in High Easter without replacing anything

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We’re often asked to fix snagging damage from a refit and damage beneath the taps, on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

FAQs for High Easter

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to High Easter. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material and finish

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • The material, if you know it

Most customers in High Easter get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Common problems we fix in High Easter

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Look out for these signs:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders

Before you book anyone

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
