Bath repair for Holywell homes

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

How we handle bath repair in Holywell

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, typically in a single visit. Typical jobs include a kit repair that didn’t last and holes from dropped items, on acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Holywell. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a few hours in most cases. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Ask for a price

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Advice

When to call us in Holywell

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

The things clients generally mention when they call include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Questions to ask before you book

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How your room will be protected
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • If travel is included in the price

Our hiring checklist

Your questions about bath repair in Holywell

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Holywell and the rest of Central Bedfordshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Frequently, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

How to care for the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Repair or replace in Holywell?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
