Bath repair in Studham

How to care for the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

How we handle bath repair in Studham

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles aren’t touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We work on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are a hole punched through by something heavy and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

FAQs for Studham

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is a bath repair permanent?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Do you work in Studham?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Studham and the rest of Central Bedfordshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Studham, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

When to call us in Studham

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What prep work is covered
