Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Common questions in Iden

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Iden.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you work in Iden?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Iden and the rest of East Sussex. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Iden. Prices do not change with location.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Iden as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Ask for a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Iden

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

What affects the price in Iden

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Iden. The price comes down to:

  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, with your TN31 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Should you replace it?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Iden. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why Iden clients choose us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Work done at your home or business
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
