  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Lauder. What changes the price is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A photo taken from further back

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Questions from Lauder

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, so Lauder is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Do you need bath repair in Lauder?

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex until it cracks.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

Choosing a repair company

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is often needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why Lauder clients choose us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
